MANASSAS, Va. — Coach “Hatch” does it for the kids. William Hatchett has been a coach at the Boys and Girls Club of Manassas for close to three years.
“Hatch,” as he is known around the club, has five children that participate in the club’s basketball league three times a year.
Ranging from five to 16-years-old, Hatchett volunteers as a coach for three separate teams and can be found at the club at least four nights out of the week. It is dedicated volunteers like this that serve as the fuel for the sports programs at the Boys and Girls Clubs.
Aside from coaching his sons, he also comes in from time to time to run free basketball skills clinics for all Boys & Girls Club members. In these clinics, Hatchett stresses hard work, believing in yourself, and sportsmanship.
Coach Hatchett welcomes players of all skill levels to practice and play at the Boys & Girls Club.
“Winning and losing is not what I worry about, I am here all the time because I get to do what I love doing and what I love doing is helping kids develop their basketball skills and a great work ethic,” he said.
The Boys and Girls Club’s facility in Manassas is located at 9501 Dean Park Lane.
