UPDATE
Speed could have been a factor in the crash that killed 70-year-old Gregory Allen Hurst of Fredericksburg.
Virginia State Police Trooper D.J. Jablonski was called late this morning to Manning Road in Stafford County, near U.S. 1 in Falmouth, after the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette the car – 40-year-old Aaron T. Frazier of Fredeicksburg, lost control of the car while headed on Manning Road.
Also riding in the car with Frazier was Hurst, and were both wearing his seatbelts when the car struck a ditch, overturned, and landed on its roof, said Virginia State Police Sgt. F.L Tyler.
Hurst did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, added Tyler.
Another car also ran off the road at the time of the crash, but authorities said the driver of the second vehicle suffered injuries that did not appear to be life threatening. Both crashes were treated as separate incidents by state police.

A Virginia State Police accident reconstruction team remains on the scene of a fatal crash on Manning Drive, just off U.S. 1 in near Falmouth.
The crash happened at 11:46 a.m., said Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.
An official on the crash scene told PotomacLocal.com police are investigating the incident as two separate crashes, as the two cars involved in the crash never collided.
ORIGINAL POST 2 p.m.
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — One person is dead and another in a hospital this afternoon after two separate car crashes on Manning Drive in Stafford County.
Police were called to the scene before 1 p.m. Tuesday Monday where a red Chevrolet Corvette overturned in the middle the of the two-lane street. The unidentified driver of the Corvette died.
The driver of a second vehicle lost control of his car about the same time the Corvette overturned, and he ran off the road into a ditch.
Witnesses said the second driver was able to get out of his car and talk to investigators. He was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
The portion of Manning Drive where the crash happened, near U.S. 1, was closed for accident investigation, officials said.
Virginia State Police are handling the investigation. The family of the crash victim has not been notified, and no names have been released.
