Which Cardboard Boat will be ‘Titanic?’

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Rain or shine, the cardboard boats will once again this year take to the Potomac River.

Stafford’s Rock Hill Ruitan’s Club will hold their annual Cardboard Boat Regatta at Aquia Landing Park in Stafford County on Saturday, July 21. The gates open at 10 a.m., and attendees can expect to see some creative works of art that may or may not float.

Before they go into the water, the boats are judged for creativity, best design, and most likely to sink – the infamous Titanic award. The event draws cardboard boat makers and racers from across Northern Virginia, and the $10 pre-registration or $15 day-of registration fess go to support educational outreach efforts by the Ruitan Club.

Judging starts at 11:30 a.m., winners are announced at noon, and then the boats go into the water for the races.
