Madison County Man Killed in Construction Accident

3 p.m. Tuesday 

A man from Madison County died Monday at a construction site in Prince William.

Workers were clearing trees in a new housing development off Spriggs Road known as Hope Hill Crossing just after 8 a.m. when 54-year-old Larry R. Nicholson, of Locust Dale, was struck in the head by a tree. The victim fell to the ground and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else on the site was injured.

According to the Richmond American Homes website, Hope Hill Crossing will four to five bedroom homes, between 3,000 and 3,250 square feet. It is the latest neighborhood to be developed along the bottom portion of Spriggs Road near Forest Park High School

Emergency crews are working to extricate the body of a construction worker that became trapped underneath a tree in Prince William County.

There are unconfirmed reports that the worker was killed when the tree fell on him.

Initial reports indicate emergency crews were dispatched to the Spriggs Road area of Prince William County for this incident.
