Air Conditioner Sparks Blaze

North Stafford, Va. –– Fire forced a family forced from their home this morning.

Flames broke out at 44 Joshua Road in North Stafford, just off Garrisonville Road (Va. 610).

Two adults and one child were inside the house when it caught fire, and all of them managed to escape the burning house without injury, said Stafford fire and rescue spokesman Mark Doyle.

Crews then went to work and extinguished the blaze within 10 minutes, said Doyle.

Fire investigators say a faulty air conditioner is to blame for the fire. Officials estimate damage to the home to be $115,000.

The Red Cross was called to assist the family, added Doyle.
