It’s Official: Lateef vs. Corey Stewart

Babur Lateef, a Democrat, is looking to unseat Prince William County Board Chairman Corey Stewart.
Woodbridge, Va. –– Babur Lateef is the Democratic nominee to unseat Prince William Board Chairman Corey A. Stewart this fall. No other Democrat opted to challenge Lateef by the state’s candidate filing deadline last week.

Lateef is an eye surgeon based in Woodbridge and hails from Youngstown, Ohio.

Stewart, his Republican opponent, polarized Prince William County residents in 2007 with the passage of an immigration resolution that allowed police to check the immigration status of anyone suspected to be in the country illegally. It was later revised to allow officers to check the immigration status of anyone who is arrested for a crime.

Voters will go to the polls Nov. 8.
