Attempted Rape, Burglary Suspect Sought

Woodbridge, Va. –– A woman awoke to find a man in her bedroom holding a knife who ordered her to remove her clothes. The man touched her and then left, police say.

It happened at 6:45 a.m. Thursday in the 1800 block of Gableridge Turn off Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge, in the Summerland Heights apartments.

The man got into the 38-year-old woman’s home through an unlocked window, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

K9 units were called in but they were unable to find the man.

But police say the incident may be related to another burglary in the neighborhood just after midnight.

A couple asleep in their apartment woke to the sound of a dog barking, and when they went to investigate found a man inside of their living room, said Perok.

The intruder fled through a window, prompting police to dispatch K9 units and a police helicopter from Fairfax County.

The man was not found, and it appears he got into the apartment through an unlocked window, said Perok.

In both cases the man is said to be black, and in the case of the attempted rape, said to be in his 20s, between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 9 inches tall, 180 pounds, thin build, possibly having a mustache, wearing a tan ski mask, black zip up jacket, dark jeans and a construction gloves.

In the earlier burglary, the man is said to be between 25 and 30-years-old, 6 feet tall, 250 pounds, with a heavy build, wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans and a black skull cap.
