Lake Ridge, Va. –– It was improperly discarded smoking materials that sparked a blaze in two apartment buildings in Lake Ridge, causing up to an estimated $2 million in damage.
The fire broke out about 2 p.m. Tuesday in the 3600 Block of Golf Side Circle.
A firefighter was injured in the fire, and was treated at a local hospital and released.
At least 35 people were displaced by the fire, officials said.
