Sheriff’s office investigates car break-ins

Stafford County, Va. –– A string of cars was broken into in the St. Georges Estates neighborhood of Stafford County, investigators said.

The larcenies from autos occurred between the late Thursday evening and early Friday morning in the neighborhood that sits off Joshua Drive behind Va. 610.

Five cars that were parked in the neighborhood were broken into and items such as a video camera, backpack, calculators, a radio and a number of DVDs were taken from the vehicles, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

All of the cars were left unlocked. The streets the apparent thieves targeted were St. Partricks, St. Ives, St. Robert’s and St. Mary’s courts. All of the thefts appear to be related, said Kennedy.

And sheriff’s deputies were also called to a home on Oak Drive behind Doc Stone Commons on Friday, for a report of a break in.

Investigators say the couple who lives in the home had been away between Oct. 7 and Friday, and when they returned saw someone had been in their house.

When they walked in, they saw their TV, an air rifle and coin collection had all been stolen, said Kennedy.
