WOODBRIDGE – (Press Release) OmniRide will test a new style of commuter bus for several weeks in September, continuing to research what vehicles should be included in its fleet of the future.

The new bus that’s being tested features two exits – one at the front and one in the middle – so passengers can disembark quickly. Passengers will continue to enter at the front door where the fare box is located.


CENTERVILLE — One person is dead after a car collided with a tractor-trailer and then hit a jersey wall and then caught fire.

At 10:58 a.m. Saturday (Aug.24), Virginia State Police were called to a multi-vehicle crash in Fairfax County. The crash occurred in the westbound lanes of Interstate 66 east of Exit 53, at Route 28.


Editors note: This story was prompted by a news tip emailed to us by a reader: “Sharing something I came across.  Very disappointing!  According to VDOT the Route 1 widening is a year behind schedule.  It was originally due to be completed the fall of 2019 and it’s now showing a completion date in Fall of 2020.  Hoping you can check into why. 

The completion date for the project to widen Route 1 between Mary’s Way and the Occoquan River has, indeed, been delayed until fall 2020. It had been set for this year.


WOODBRIDGE – (Press Release) OmniRide is partnering with Northern Virginia Community College to offer a bus pass exclusively for the students, faculty and staff of NOVA’s Woodbridge and Manassas campuses.

The OmniRide College Pass will enable students, faculty and staff to get unlimited rides on OmniRide Local, Cross County Connector and Metro Express buses for the fall 2019 semester for $80. The pass will be valid for travel from August 19 through December 31, 2019.
