The Board of Supervisors is urging the Virginia Department of Transportation to include a pedestrian path underneath a new bridge built to carry Interstate 95 traffic over Route 17.
Why it matters: A pedestrian path would allow people who live across the six-lane Route 17 to walk from their neighborhood in Olde Forge across the road to a shopping center anchored by a Target Store.
The Ruth Anderson and Victor Angry, the Occoquan and Neabsco District Supervisors on the Board of County Supervisors, respectively, ordered County Executive Christopher Martino to look at intersection improvements along the road that traverses the county.
Why it matters: Prince William Parkway is a major thoroughfare linking Interstates 95 and 66, and it’s littered with signal lights that slow and stop the flow of traffic.
Today at 6:53 a.m., investigators from the Prince William police Crash Investigation Unit were called to the 3600 block of Graham Park Road in Triangle, to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of a 2010 Hyundai Sonata was traveling west on Graham Park Raod near Kilmer Lane when the vehicle struck a pedestrian.
Virginia State Police Trooper F. Stanley is investigating a single-vehicle crash in Culpeper County.
The crash occurred on October 9 at 12:30 p.m. on Route 211 (Lee Highway).
That’s the result of an analysis conducted by the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, which funded the 2.2-mile project, said Marty Nohe, authority chairman.
“That’s time people can spend at home with their families, not commuting,” he added.
