The E-ZPass Express Lanes on Interstates 95 and 395 are about to switch over to a new summer reversal schedule.
This is when the direction of travel on the lanes is reversed to accommodate rush-hour traffic. The lanes carry drivers north in the mornings and south in the afternoons.
Manassas Park officials today told us they are aware of problems at a railroad crossing at the center of town, and that they’re working with the Norfolk Southern Railroad to fix the issue.
The crossing arms are lowering when there is no train approaching, creating delays along Manassas Drive.
Police are investigating another fatal crash on Cardinal Drive in Woodbridge.
Fatal Crash Investigation – On May 23 at 7:48 a.m., investigators with the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Cardinal Dr. and Swan Way in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a two-vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2006 Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on Cardinal Dr. near Swan Way at a high rate of speed when the vehicle struck a 2005 Toyota Camry from behind that was traveling in the same direction.

This photo of a car engulfed in flames was sent to us by a PLN reader who was driving on Joplin Road on Saturday, May 22.
The reader tells us she came upon the car already engulfed in flames and called 9-1-1. The car was parked in the road, about 2 miles west of Quantico National Cemetery.
Businesses are opening back up, and once again, workers are being asked to bike to work.
After taking a hiatus last year due to the pandemic, the annual Bike to Work Day in the Washington area will be held tomorrow. There are several outdoor pit stops in the region, including six in Prince William County and one in Manassas, where riders can stop off for a free t-shirt and for some water (we’ll list those locations at the bottom of this post), and participants must register online for an appointment in which to visit the pit stop and get the free t-shirt.
As the region reopens, eyes are shifting back to the roads as workers head back to the office.
I-66 Mobility Partners, the consortium that’s working to add toll lanes to Interstate 66 from Haymarket to the Capital Beltway will build a new headquarters in Prince William County, near Manassas.
