DALE CITY — (Press Release) The Dale City “LIGHTNING” Track Club (DCTC) was named the 2019 National Track and Field Club of the Year by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).

The award was based on the team’s outstanding success and merit working with today’s youth and tomorrow’s stars. The award was presented during the AAU 2019 National Junior Olympic Games held in Greensboro, N.C.  The 2019 National Junior Olympic games had over 13,000 youth participants, making the event the largest youth track and field event in the world.

DALE CITY — (Press Release) On Friday, June 7th, 2019 seven Birmingham Green team members and four residents presented a donation of $500 worth of toys and supplies to The Arc of Greater Prince William’s Muriel Humphrey Childcare Center in Dale City.

In May, Birmingham Green team members and residents participated in Comcast Cares Day. They joined Comcast, Leadership Prince William, and the ARC of Greater Prince William for one of the largest days of volunteerism in Northern Virginia. Over 300 volunteers from the area participated to help the special needs children, adults, and families the ARC of Greater Prince William serves.

DALE CITY — On May 10, the first annual Dale City Volunteer Fire Department (DCVFD) Mother-Son Dance was held.

Over 50 people participated in the event, which took place in DeSanto Community Hall and was open to the public. Admission was $5 per person and profits were donated to the DCVFD Auxiliary, which supports the department.

DALE CITY — On Saturday, Leadership Prince William (LPW) and Comcast saw a record-breaking 318 volunteers in a day of service.

This is the fifth consecutive year that LPW and Comcast have teamed up on a local community service project for the annual Comcast Cares Day. According to LPW Executive Director Andrea Money, the normal turnout for these events is around 200 to 250 people.


DALE CITY — A park in Dale City will be rededicated this weekend to a man who served the community longer than anyone else on the Prince William County Board of Supervisors.

The 21.5 acre John D. Jenkins Park will receive a bright new entry sign, along with updated signage inside the park. The pavilions are slated for a fresh coat of paint and the parking lot will get new stripes.
