A weapons offense occurred at the Marathon Gas on Richmond Highway, where a 26-year-old Stafford man fired multiple shots during a dispute with a former co-worker, police said. The suspect, who retrieved a firearm from his vehicle, was arrested and charged with several offenses, including brandishing a firearm and reckless discharge, police said.

Earlier, a DUI incident on Richmond Highway led to the arrest of a 39-year-old Stafford man. After a hit-and-run, the suspect was found with controlled substances and charged with multiple offenses, including DUI and possession of a controlled substance.

A Fredericksburg man, 45, was sentenced to 40 years in prison in Stafford Circuit Court. The sentence includes a mandatory minimum of six years to serve, with 20 years suspended. The charges stemmed from an investigation into the overdose death of a Stafford County resident.

The investigation revealed that the man had distributed narcotics to the victim shortly before the fatal overdose. During a traffic stop, the Stafford County SWAT team recovered approximately 90 Fentanyl pills and a quantity of Xylazine from the suspect.


The proposal to bring a massive Buc-ee’s Travel Center to Stafford County will face its first formal test tonight when the Planning Commission holds a public hearing at 6 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers at the George L. Gordon, Jr. Government Center, 1300 Courthouse Road.

“Travelers on Parkway Boulevard in the Park Ridge neighborhood will encounter periodic single lane closures from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. over the next two weeks,” Stafford County Government announced. “Closures are scheduled Monday, Oct. 27 through Friday, Oct. 31, and again Monday, Nov. 3 through Friday, Nov. 7.”

The county advised drivers to plan for potential delays and use caution when traveling through the work zone during these maintenance periods.


“Smoke was showing from three sides of a vacant, single-story commercial building when crews arrived less than five minutes after dispatch,” Stafford County Fire and Rescue announced. “Crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control while also searching the interior of the building.”

The fire occurred around 4:55 p.m. Monday, October 27, in the 700 block of Cambridge Street [Route 1] near Enon Road, near All Seasons Landscaping & Irrigation LLC.
