DUMFRIES, Va. — Is there something stinky in Dumfries? If you ask some members of the Town Council, it’s the trash service.

During a public meeting Tuesday, members of the Council complained about broken trash cans, shared frustrations of residents who didn’t know where to go to obtain one, and said some trash is left in cans or blown about the streets after the trash truck drives away.


DUMFRIES, Va. — A vehicle crash led to a power outage for about 4,800 Dominion Virginia Power customers today.

Dumfries police Chief Robert Forker said a 40-year-old woman, of Vienna, suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel while traveling south on U.S. 1 at Old Stage Coach Road. The woman was driving a 2010 Honda Odyssey, and during the crash it collided with the rear of a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup driven by a 42-year-old man of Nokesville about 10:50 a.m., said Forker.


Prince William police reports 

Abduction – On January 22nd at 5:45PM, police responded to the Clairmont School located at 3551 Waterway Dr in Dumfries (22025) for a reported abduction. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 26 year old woman of Dumfries, and her 4 year old son were abducted from the location by the accused, a known acquaintance. Officers eventually located the vehicle in the area of the Cloverdale Rd. The victim and suspect were located inside. The victim was not injured. The child was located at an address on Endsley Tn unharmed. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.


Two men who have been on the run from police for nearly a week are now in custody in a Florida jail.

The two brothers, Christopher Tolliver, 27, and Douglas Tolliver, 29, are suspects in the shooting death of Tasheka Leavell, 35, who was shot and killed inside of her Dumfries home Thursday.
