LAKE RIDGE, Va. — A town house in Lake Ridge burned Sunday morning.

The fire broke out at 3511 Covered Bridge Lane off Smoketown Road at 10:06 a.m. Fire crews found smoke to be showing from the roof as they arrived onto the scene. After fire crews entered the house, they found flames engulfing the second floor and attic section of house, according to a OWL Volunteer Fire Department spokeswoman.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Someone suspected would-be burglar is rattling dogs at homes at a neighborhood near Quantico when after the person tried to climb through a kitchen window.

A woman inside a home in the 19600 block of Kerill road in Triangle was rattled at 6:44 a.m. Monday when she heard her dog barking and then saw a man trying to climb through her kitchen window. She screamed and the man fled.


Drivers are dealing with multiple water main breaks today on area roads.

A 12-inche water main broke last night closing a portion of Dale Boulevard at Birchdale Avenue. Fire and rescue crews that were called to the scene told Potomac Local News the pressure that was released when the water main blew caused “rocks the size of basketballs” to roll down the boulevard. The break disrupted several Virginia American Water customers in Dale City and forced the closure of Dale Boulevard in both directions near the site of the break.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Residents tonight will have their say on how and government and schools should be funded in the coming budget year in Prince William County.

The Board of County Supervisors at 7 p.m. will hold a public hearing inviting feedback on the fiscal year 2015 budget to take effect July 1. The $975.9 million budget would be funded by an advertised tax rate of $1.158 per every $100 of assessed value of homes in the county. Expected to be approved later this month, the budget will fund local government expenditures, parks, transportation efforts, and community services, just to name a few.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — The Novant Health Mobile Mammagraphy unit made its debut Thursday at the George Mason University Health Expo.  The expo was held on George Mason University’s Prince William Campus outside Manassas.

The mammography staff offered tours of the until, a 42-foot Winnebago filled with the latest technology and set up to operate as an onsite testing suite.
