WOODBRIDGE, Va. – On August 21, police were called to a home after two men wouldn’t refused to leave. Once police arrived, the men, one of whom was the suspect, were leaving in a car but when they were stopped, the suspect pushed an officer while trying to escape and was arrested soon after.

Here’s the latest from Prince William police:

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — When a barrel containing chemicals exploded at the landfill, fears arose that a new high school being built next door may be too close for comfort.

That barrel exploded July 30 after someone dropped it off at a chemical depot at the Prince William County Sanitary Landfill at 14811 Dumfries Road at Independent Hill. The incident prompted a response from police, fire and rescue crews, and calls from the FBI. After being shut down, the landfill reopened for regular business about two hours after the explosion.

STAFFORD, Va. – On August 13, a Stafford County Sheriff deputy went to Hope Springs Marina on Hope Springs Lane to investigate a larceny report.

Stafford Sheriff spokesman Bill Kennedy said that the deputy spoke with the 911 caller at the marina who said that 11 separate boats parked in the Marina had been broken into. Kennedy said that a total of 19 batteries were stolen from the 11 boats valued at a total of $2,600. Kennedy further said that the batteries appeared to have been stolen from boats that had been left there for some time.
