Chris Crawford, a data scientist in the counter-terrorism industry, will be running against the current Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chairman At-Large Corey Stewart, for the Republican nomination for the board seat.

According to Crawford, there’s a lack of real leadership on the board.

Fire officials called the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality to the scene of a HAZMAT this morning outside Manassas.

Prince William County authorities said a petroleum product was found in the Linden Lake storm water management pond, a tributary to Bull Run. Crews placed booms in the water to minimize the impact from the petroleum product.


Candice Bennett, a small business owner, has announced her candidacy for the Mt. Vernon District Supervisor seat. Bennett is hoping to take over the seat from the long time incumbent Gerry Hyland, who has held the office since 1988.

She received her Master’s degree in security policy studies from George Washington University. Bennett is a graduate of the Sorensen Campaign Training Program, Leadership Fairfax and the Tuck Executive Education program at Dartmouth, according to a release.

She is the owner of Hannele Lahti Photography and a contract photographer for National Geographic. As a child, Lahti grew up on a lake and learned to respect the natural world, to honor its beauty as she sat by the water’s edge with her grandfather.


In a room full of differing opinions, wants, and needs Corey Stewart says his job is to broker a deal.

As the At-large Chairman of the Prince William County Board of  Supervisors, Stewart is in the middle of a nearly four-month effort to find common ground with taxpayers that want certain county services funded. He  also must bridge gaps with fellow Republicans and Democrats on his Board in the second largest county in Virginia who will decide in late April what will be funded in the upcoming fiscal 2016 budget — and what won’t be.


Prince William County Attorney Angela Horan has been promoted and will be appointed as a judge on the county’s district court, starting July 1.

Horan, who has served as Prince William’s top legal advisor for the past six years, will be replacing one of the two county judges who will be moving to the Circuit Court.
