On March 28, Prince William police responded to a call from Novant Health Prince William Medical Center to investigate an assault. 

According to a Prince William police release, an investigation revealed that the victim, a 22-year old Manassas man, was with friends at a residence on Rembert Court in Gainesville, when the victim was assaulted by two acquaintances.

Christopher DiBenedetto, 32, of Prince William County, was sentenced to six years and six months in prison with an additional eight years and six months suspended for selling cocaine. The office of Attorney General Mark R. Herring announced the sentencing on April 10. DiBenedetto sold the drugs to confidential informants working at the direction of the Fairfax County Police Department.

DiBenedetto was also ordered to pay restitution of $4,950 and serve five years probation, according to a release by the attorney general’s office.

Two Republicans seeking to lead the Prince William County Board of Supervisors sat down for a debate on Saturday.

Incumbent Corey Stewart faced newcomer Chris Crawford, and each discussed issues facing the county from tax bills, funding firefighters, to bringing new jobs to the region.


On May 16, Occoquan will be hosting a ‘Sail Occoquan’ board parade.

From 9:50 a.m. to 4 p.m. there will be 10 to 12 boats led by a fire boat, parading along the Occoquan River, according to a release.
