A mother claims her daughter was neglected while staying in a group home in Woodbridge.

Investigators with Virginia’s Department of Social Services say the mother’s allegations could have merit, but then closed an investigation into the matter.


New traffic delineator posts on Graham Park Road in Dumfries are in place to help control traffic.

The new posts are standing at one of the busiest intersections in the town at Graham Park Road and Route 1, between Dunkin Donuts and Triangle Shopping Plaza. This section of Graham Park Road is used by drivers from Route 1 north and south, and by drivers coming out of the Prince William Estates, Williamstown, and Graham Park Shores neighborhoods need to access Route 1.


Jim Speros was an assistant coach for the championship 1982 Washington Redskins in the Superbowl.

More than 30 years later, he is expanding his restaurant business into Bristow. Speros owns Velocity Wings, and will open his third location in the Braemar Village Center in Bristow next to Safeway. The new restaurant will serve customers from Bristow, Gainesviille, and Manassas, according to a company press release.


Health officials have their eyes trained on the Zika virus.

The spreader of the virus thought to cause birth defects in newborn children is the Asian Tiger Mosquito, one of the most common in Prince William County. With the Zika threat migrating north, public health officials are sped up the time it takes to get test results returned to check if someone is positive for the virus.


Virginia Railway Express trains that travel both north and south all day, more bike lanes, and more commuter parking are just some of the transportation wishes for the group tasked determining what Prince William County will need as its population grows.

Nowhere on the big list was an extension of Metro rail to the county, something advocates have long called for despite the Washington, D.C. subway system’s funding issues and crumbling infrastructure.
