The Board of Directors of Keep Prince William Beautiful announced the hiring of Jason Parsons as the organization’s Executive Director. Marlo Thomas Watson, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Marlo Company, Inc. and President of the Keep Prince William Beautiful Board of Directors commented, “We are thrilled to welcome Jason to lead Keep Prince William Beautiful to new heights in fulfilling our mission of inspiring and educating citizens to be environmental stewards and to ensure Prince William County is a clean and green place to live, visit, and conduct business.”

Tourism in Prince William County generated over $541.5 million in travel related expenditures in 2015, an increase of 3.1% compared to 2014 and supported 6,223 jobs, a 5.6% increase from 2014. Visitor related tax receipts provided $8.4 million dollars and provided over $62 in tax savings per household to residents of the county.


For the first time, the Prince William County Planning Commission will review plans for a mosque in Bristow.

The All Dulles Area Muslim Society proposes building the Gainesville Community Center, a 22,400 square foot building large enough to house 500 people inside its worship hall. The center would be located at Vint Hill Road and Schaffer Lane, just inside the Rural Crescent land conservation area.


The U.S. Small Business Administration awarded $50,000 to the Prince William County Science Accelerator on Thursday.

The accelerator was chosen from a list of more than 800 applicants seeking the funding from the agency’s third annual Growth Accelerator Fund Competition. The funding will be used to continue research happening at the center, located near the Science and Technology Campus of George Mason University just outside Manassas.
