Composite image of Lake Ridge rape suspect released

Police worked to make a composite image of the suspect they say raped a woman at a Lake Ridge apartment complex off Springwoods Drive.

Rape Investigation *E-FIT COMPOSITE [See Attachments] – The Prince William County Police Department is continuing to seek the public’s assistance in providing any information in connection to a rape that occurred at an apartment building located in the 12200 block of Stevenson Ct in Woodbridge on July 25. On August 2, detectives and crime analysts with the Criminal Investigation Division worked with the victim to develop an electronic composite image of the suspect. Investigators, with the assistance of a Fairfax County police, were also able to obtain a sketch of the suspect’s tattoo located on his right forearm. The tattoo depicts an angel (correction from a previous release indicating only angel wings) and unknown writing to the right of the figure. Additional information will be released when available. Robbery suspect tries to hit same store in two days, police said

DALE CITY — A man who allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven on Tuesday aparently tried to rob the same store again the following day.

Prince William police on Wednesday were back at the 7-Eleven at 14410 Minnieville Road, at the intersection of Cardinal Drive., where arrested their suspect.

Police search for driver in violent hit and run crash

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Police are searching for the driver suspected of causing a violent chain-reaction crash.

Five people on Tuesday were in an SUV traveling south on a two-lane portion of Route 234 toward Interstate 66. As the SUV approached the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College, an oncoming driver swerved into their lane at 5 p.m.

Floodwaters strand rescue crews called to help driver

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Fire and rescue crews became stranded by floodwaters after they were called to rescue the driver of a pick up that drove through rising waters.

The call went out at 7:10 a.m., when crews from Prince William County and Quantico were dispatched to Fleetwood Drive behind the Marine Corps Base in Nokesville.

5 suffer serious injuries in crash outside Manassas NOVA Campus

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Five people were taken to a hospital following a crash on Route 234.

All five people suffered serious injuries in the crash that occurred at 5 p.m. outside the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. One was flown to an area hospital from the visitors center of the Manassas National Battlefield.

Sentara pledges $130 million to EVMS

Sentara Healthcare will triple its financial support for Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) with a commitment of $130 million over the next five years. For the period 2018 through 2023, annual funding given by Sentara to EVMS will increase from a previous amount of $9 million per year to $26 million per year.

“After 46 years working together, the relationship between Sentara and EVMS has never been stronger,” said Sentara Board of Directors Chair, Henry U. ‘Sandy’ Harris. “Together, we are demonstrating the missions of both institutions and keeping the focus on patient care and innovation during this time of change in the health care landscape.”

Prince William Humane Society to celebrate 1 year in Dumfries

DUMFRIES — The Prince William Humane Society is celebrating one year in Dumfries.
