Police believe pedestrian struck by two vehicles before he died

DUMFRIES — (Press Release) Fatal Crash Investigation *UPDATE – Following an autopsy completed yesterday regarding the pedestrian struck and killed in the area of Fraley Blvd near Graham Park Rd in Dumfries on September 18, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit believe the victim may have been struck by two separate vehicles. Parts of a vehicle recovered from the scene have indicated that one of the vehicles possibly involved was a 2014-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The victim was not near a designated crosswalk when he was initially located lying in the roadway by a County Park Ranger. The driver of the blue vehicle observed by the Park Ranger was further described to be a white male in his 30’s. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact Prince William County Police at 703-792-6500.

Fatal Crash Investigation [Previously Released] – On September 18 at 7:34PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Fraley Blvd near Graham Park Rd in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that a County Park Ranger was traveling northbound on Fraley Blvd when a man was observed lying in the middle of the roadway. The County Park Ranger pulled off to the side of the road to check on the man’s welfare. At that time, a white male driver of a blue vehicle, traveling northbound, struck the pedestrian. The striking vehicle initially stopped before proceeding northbound. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. Investigators are working to determine why the pedestrian was lying the roadway prior to the collision and to identify the driver of the striking vehicle. Alcohol appears to be a factor. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact Prince William County Police at 703-792-6500.

MANASSAS — After downsizing BadWolf Brewing Company this past year, owners Jeremy and Sarah Meyers said that they have faced challenges, but are enjoying more creative control over a single location and a return to an artisan model of brewing.

“Looking back on the past year, we couldn’t really see through the trees, but now we’ve got a clearer vision of where we’re headed,” Sarah shared.

Metro in doubt and CTE on the rise, Prince William rethinks economic development

Crash investigation leads to alleged assault on law enforcement officers, drug arrest, more

A crash investigation lead to an alleged assault on law enforcement officers, drug arrest and more. From the Prince William police report:

Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) – On September 17 at 12:51AM, officers responded to the 13600 block of Mapledale Ave in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a single vehicle crash. Officers subsequently responded to a residence located in the 5300 block of Qualey Pl in an attempt to make contact with the registered owner of the vehicle. When officers arrived, they made contact with a woman standing outside of the home. During the encounter, the woman, identified as Demetria Le Rhonda BRYANT, became agitated and disorderly. Officers further determined that BRYANT was intoxicated and arrested her. As officers were attempting to place BRYANT into a police cruiser, she resisted and kicked an officer in the arm. Officers deployed pepper spray and secured the accused without further incident. No injuries were reported. During a subsequent search of BRYANT, narcotics were recovered. A short time later, a resident of the home, Shatie Nicole THROWER, also became disorderly towards officers. When officers attempted to place her under arrest, she resisted and began kicking and swinging her arms at two officers. A TASER was deployed and THROWER was eventually detained without further incident. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, both BRYANT and THROWER were transported to the Prince William – Manassas Adult Detention Center without further incident.
