PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — (Press Release) The Prince William County Department of Finance wants to remind residents that personal property taxes are due on or before Friday, October 5, 2018.

There are several convenient ways to pay your bill. If you choose to pay by check, payments should be mailed in the remittance envelope included with your tax bill. Checks for payment of taxes should be made payable to “Prince William County.” Payments by mail must be postmarked no later than October 5, 2018, to avoid a late payment penalty and interest charges. 


STAFFORD COUNTY — Traffic began moving again on Interstate 95 south in Stafford County about 1 o’clock this afternoon.

A southbound portion of the highway was closed about an hour earlier at milepost 142 just before the Stafford exit after at least two tractor-trailers were involved in a crash.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — The Pat White Center at Ben Lomond, affectionately known as “The Barn” to area residents, has been closed since January when a pipe burst, spewing water inside the building.

The Prince William County-owned and operated facility draws its customers from about a five-mile radius, according to Brent Heavner, the Communications Chief for the Prince William Department of Parks and Recreation.

On September 11, the Board of County Supervisors held a public hearing about a new drive-through Panera slated to be built on Prince William Parkway at the intersection with Caton Hill Road in the existing Parkway Crossing West shopping center parking lot.


GAINESVILLE — (Press Release) On September 22 at 2:29 a.m., investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Sudley Road near Catharpin Road in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian.

The investigation revealed a white, 4-door sedan was traveling westbound on Sudley Rd when the vehicle struck a pedestrian, identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile. The juvenile, a family member, and co-worker were completing a sealcoat job of a driveway at a residence in the above area at the time of the collision.
