WOODBRIDGE — What do you want to see more of in Prince William County parks?

That was the question posed to a room of more than 100 people who turned out for a public meeting held by the county’s parks and recreation department on January 25 at the county government center.


WOODBRIDGE – (Press Release) Former Chairman of the Virginia State Board of Social Services, D.J. Jordan, 41, announced his intent to run for the 31st District of the Virginia state House of Delegates in this year’s elections. The district includes parts of Prince William and Fauquier Counties.

“I am excited to announce my campaign for the 31st District of the Virginia House of Delegates,” said Jordan.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – (Press Release) On February 1 at 2:15 a.m., officers responded to the Tobacco Time located at 2898 Garber Way in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary.

The business owner reported to police that he received an alarm activation notice at 1:40 a.m. and responded to the store. When he arrived, he discovered that the front glass door has been shattered and contacted police. Various merchandise was reported missing. Video surveillance revealed that two unknown suspects wearing all black were involved. A police K-9 searched the surrounding the area for the suspects who were not located. Photos will be released when available.


OCCOQUAN — (Press Release) Aaron Cedric Edmond, 25, a U.S. Navy Reservist and Senior Executive Assistant at Vista Technology Services Inc., announces his candidacy for the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, Occoquan District.

Aaron was born in New Jersey where three strong women; his Great Grandmother, Grandmother, and Great Aunt, taught him the values of good character, accountability, respect for others, hard work and most importantly knowing right from wrong.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — (Press Release) Yesli Vega, a military wife, mother, former police officer, and Prince William County Sheriff’s deputy announced her campaign for the Prince William County Board of Supervisors Coles Magisterial District.

If elected, Vega, a Republican would serve as the first minority representative in the history of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — A bill in the Virginia House of Delegates, co-sponsored by multiple Prince William County legislators, that would allow a woman to receive an abortion up until the time of delivery died this week.

Delegate Kathy Tran (42-D, Lorton, West Springfield) sponsored HB 2491 which would have changed a requirement for women to obtain approval from three doctors to receive an abortion in the third and final trimester of pregnancy to one. Tran’s bill died Monday in a House Courts Subcommittee where she told a panel of lawmakers that a child could an aborted at the time a mother was dilating on the delivery table.
