PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — There are summer camps, free movies, and lots more happening this month at historic sites throughout Prince William County.

The Civil War Basic Summer Camp at the Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre is the place for children between the ages of 8 and 12 who want to learn about the Civil War.


DALE CITY — Prince William police chief Barry Barnard is making a plea for anyone with information on the shooting deaths of two men to come forward.

The bodies of Jairo Mayorga, 39, and Milton Lopez, 40, of Woodbridge, were found behind the 7 Market convenience store on Featherstone Road in Woodbridge on the morning of June 22.


One of the county’s last remaining stretches of farmland along Prince William Parkway will remain green at least a little while longer as a result of the planning commission’s decision early Thursday to defer a vote on the latest iteration of a residential development planned for the 92-acre site known as the Kline property.


WOODBRIDGE — OmniRide wants to know what you think about new service along the Interstate 95 and 395 corridor.

One of the proposed services — a new commuter bus that will pick up at the Staffordboro Commuter Lot in North Stafford, would be OmniRide’s first service ever offered in the county.


From Prince William police:

Escape from Custody – Officers are currently on scene attempting to locate a juvenile who escaped from the custody of a Sheriff’s Deputy at the Juvenile Detention Center on Dumfries Rd [near the Prince William County Landfill]. Officers have the immediate area surrounding the facility contained as the search continues. The juvenile was returning from court on non-violent charges when the escaped occurred just prior to entering the facility.
