Ridership on the region’s commuter bus system has rebounded since the economic shutdown brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

OmniRide buses are currently operating at 85% capacity of what the transit system had been operating before the pandemic. This number reflects ridership for runs on Monday through Thursday while running a reduced schedule on Fridays.


Police in Prince William County shared information about some online tools that make it easier for neighbors to work together to keep their homes safe.

The department hosted an online meeting to discuss the benefits of having an estbalished neighborhood watch program, with neighbors on the lookout for suspicious activities.


The Prince William County Solid Waste Division and Keep Prince William Beautiful are holding a fix-it fair, and fixers are needed.

This event will take place on October 17, 2020, from 10 am to 4 pm, in conjunction with Prince William Recycles Day. Residents will have the opportunity to bring items for repair and reuse. 


It’s going to cost more — a lot more — but leaders in Prince William County say it’s worth it.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors today voted unanimously to widen a nearly four-mile stretch of Route 28 between Liberia Avenue in Manassas and the Fairfax County line. It’s expected to cost at least $400 million — about $100 million more than a bypass that had been considered until today.


Students in Prince William County Public Schools will not be returning to school for in-person learning in August — but they will line up for the SAT.

In August, September, October, November, and December, Prince William County high schools will be hosting the SAT and ACT tests in-person, with ‘guidelines for safety to include cleaning procedures, physical distancing, and the use of face coverings,’ according to Diana Gulotta, Prince William County Schools Director of Communications Services.


The effort to build a bypass around Manassas City hit a road block today after it failed to gain the support of the elected supervisor of the district where the would would be built.

Prince William County Coles District Supervisor Yesli Vega announced her opposition the project that would extend the four lanes of Godwin Drive from its terminus near the Novant/UVA Health Prince William Medical Center in Manassas through a residential neighborhood, connecting it with Route 28 in Fairfax County.


Police are looking for a man they say pulled out a box cutter and used it during a fight on board an OmniRide bus.

Police were were called July 31, at 8:22 a.m to Prince William Parkway and Worth Avenue in Woodbridge to investigate a report of a fight on a bus. A 33-year-old victim told police that he and another man got into a fight, and then the the suspect used the box cutter to slice the victim’s leg before he ran off the bus.
