Stafford, Va. –– Stafford County on Tuesday unanimously passed a $241.2 million operating budget for 2012 that includes a reduction in the tax rate, more funding for schools, as well as a reduction of the number of county government employees.


Three men were arrested in Stafford after investigators learned they had showed up to a house party with 200 teenagers in attendance, assaulted two teens and then fired a handgun into the air at least four times, investigators said.

The men arrested have been identified through the Stafford sheriff’s office and the FBI’s Rappahannock Regional Gang Taskforce as members of the “Goon Squad,” a gang out of Spotsylvania County,” said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.


Frederick, Md. –– Potomac snapped their three-game losing streak in style Monday in Frederick in 9-0 win over the Frederick Keys.

Marcos Frias gave the Potomac Nationals strong starting pitching, going 6.2 shutout innings, striking out five, walking two and yielding just four hit. The righty didn’t allow a runner to reach third base until the fourth inning, and only three runners made it into scoring position while he was on the bump.
