North Stafford, Va. — Former Virginia Gov. Timothy Kaine will stump in the Potomac Communties on Saturday in his bid for the U.S. Senate.
After meeting with Democrats in Manassas and Fredericksburg on Saturday morning, Kaine has invited veterans to join him at a roundtable discussion at the Globe and Laurel Restaurant in North Stafford. Expected to be at issue is helping returning war veterans find jobs.
Dale City Elementary Schools’ guest reader event, dubbed “Read with a Hero Day” accomplished all it was designed to do, and more. Local heroes from the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue, other first responders, lawyers, a Vietnam veteran, and an Army soldier got kids excited about reading, while keeping them on the edge of their seats as they shared real-life experiences and read stories related to their careers.

Bring your treasured items and old relics to the National Museum of the Marine Corps on Saturday, February 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to let curators and historians help answer your “What is this?” questions.
The Museum experts will examine the item; give insight into its origin, and advice on the best way to preserve it. This event is free and open to everyone. Appraisals will not be done.
Officials there closed a portion of Va. 630 near U.S. 1 due to downed power lines in the area about 5 a.m. The road has since reopened, according to county officials.
Drivers were told to use nearby Hospital Center Boulevard as bypass.

Stafford County, Va. — Residents are invited to get an update on one of the region’s largest public works projects.

Woodbridge, Va. — Officials plan to provide an update on the much talked about Harbor Station development along the Potomac River in Woodbridge.
The partially completed mixed-use development, which has been slow to take off in recent years due to financial hardship by the development’s owners, features a golf course designed by professional golfer Jack Nicklaus. Original plans called for a marina, hotel, and a Virginia Railway Express station in addition to large homes.
Lake Ridge, Va. — An area healthcare provider is expanding their footprint and will soon open a new 24-hour medical facility in Lake Ridge.
Sentara Lake Ridge will open its doors near the intersection of Old Bridge and Minnieville roads by the middle of next month.
The job fair will take place between 5 and 8 p.m. Saturday at the Sharon Baucom Dale City Recreation Center, at 14300 Minnieville Road in Dale City.
The authority is looking to fill lifeguard positions only, and applicants are asked to fill out an application online, print it out, and bring it with them to the fair.
