RICHMOND, Va. – A legislative conference committee soon will begin deliberations to reconcile the House and Senate versions of the state budget, which would take effect July 1.
STAFFORD, Va. — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office recently held their annual Saved by the Belt Award Ceremony honoring 35 citizens. These citizens were all in motor vehicle accidents this year, where they were not charged, but remained injury free due to the wearing of seatbelts.
Under the direction of Deputy Bill Crane a ceremony was held honoring these citizens and their families, for their efforts that saved personal injury and, in a few cases, saved lives.
DALE CITY, Va. — A Dale City man faces sexual battery and abduction charges.
Police were called to a house the 4500 block of Kentland Drive on Sunday where a 12-year-old girl said he was sexually assaulted by an acquaintance while inside a house, police documents state.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The man who initially pleaded not guilty to fatally beating his wife and then dumping her body behind a coffee shop in Woodbridge now faces 30 years in jail.
Franklin Camacho, 42, of Perth Amboy, N.J., will be sentenced May 20 in the beating death of Leonilda L. Caceres, 45, who was hit several times in the head with a hammer, according to NJ.com.

STAFFORD, Va. — The Civil War is coming to schools in Stafford County by truck.
The Civil War History Mobile will visit Colonial Forge, Stafford, and Mountain View high schools this week as part of the traveling exhibit show. High school students as well as 5th grade students will get to see the display.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Police said a man forced his way into a trailer on the grounds of a minerals plant, stole a truck, and then used it to ram open a gate.
Officers were called at 6:11 a.m. Saturday to the Vulcan Materials Company at 13260 Marina Way in Woodbridge for a report of destruction of property. The suspect forced open a trailer on the site, found a set of keys to a truck parked in the lot, and then tried to use the truck to flee the lot, according to police documents.
