DALE CITY, Va. — A check cashing store in Center Plaza in Dale City was robbed early Monday.

Police were called at 8:49 a.m. to Ace Check Cashing at 4337 Dale Boulevard after an employee told police a man walked into the lobby just after he had opened the store, displayed a handgun, and then demanded cash, according to police reports.


TRIANGLE, Va. — The vision of bringing a village-like setting to Triangle took its first step Tuesday.

The Prince William County Board of Supervisors approved Brady’s Village, a 3-acre mixed use development that will sit to the east of U.S. 1 and is bordered by Brady’s Hill Road and C Street in Triangle.

QUANTICO Va. – The U.S. Marines of Marine Corps Base Quantico will be conducting a full-scale exercise Wednesday, March 14 from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., to test their readiness and response should a train derailment take place. Train tracks run through the base, and a derailment or other train accident could happen anywhere along those tracks. The concern is not just of a derailment but of a hazmat spill should one occur.


STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — On Super Tuesday, members of the foreign press got a look an inside look at Virginia’s Primary Election process from right here in the Potomac Communities.

Reporters and photographers from outside the U.S. stopped at H.H. Poole Middle School on March 6 to interview Precinct Chief Ben Martin and Electoral Board Vice Chairman Steve Albertson, according to a Stafford County press release.

QUANTICO, Va. — Thanks to the popularity of television shows like American Idol and America’s Got Talent, the Quantico Middle/High School drama department put on their own talent show, called “Quantico’s Got Talent,” in the school’s auditorium on March 2.


DALE CITY, Va. — Water and sewer rates could be going up for customers in eastern Prince William County.

Virginia American Water wants to raise rates by 15.9 percent for customers in the state. Customers in Prince William County could be hit hard by the increase, as the utility wants to raise rates in the portion of the county it serves by nearly 25 percent, according to a press release from the Prince William County government.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A construction worker was taken to a local hospital Monday after a roof collapsed today in in Woodbridge.

Fire and rescue crews were called to the 5600 block of Minnie Court, in the area of Spriggs and Minnieville roads, about 2 p.m. after the roof collapse. The roof was attached to a building that was under construction, said fire and rescue officials.
