NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — It’s Election Day in the Garrisonville District as voters decide who will represent them on the Stafford Board of County Supervisors.

Polls opened in Stafford’s most suburbanized magisterial district at 6 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m. Voters will chose who will permanently replace Delegate Mark Dudenhefer, R-2, Stafford, Woodbridge, who stepped down as the Garrisonville District Supervisor and Board of Supervisors Chairman in January.


LAKE RIDGE, Va. – The annual Lake Ridge Fishout is underway this week at the Ridge-Wood Pool off Old Bridge Drive.

The Lake Ridge Property Owners Association stocked the swimming pool with 750 trout for the fifth-annual Fishout event. All of the trout must be caught before Saturday so the pool can be scrubbed, cleaned, and readied for the start of the summer swim season next month.


Virginia American Water today announced the start of water main replacement on Castle Court in Dale City to enhance water quality and improve service reliability. The cost of the water system improvements is approximately $90,000.

Beginning the week of April 2, Virginia American Water will replace approximately 500 feet of aging two-inch cast iron water main with six-inch double-cement-lined pipe on Castle Court, located in the Cloverdale Community. The company is replacing pipe that dates back to 1967 and has a history of leaks. These improvements are part of Virginia American Water’s long-term strategy of ongoing capital investment in its water systems.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. — While final plans are not yet in place for High Occupancy Toll lanes on Interstate 95, transportation officials will begin preliminary work on the project next week.

Drivers will notice the work taking place on the highway shoulders on I-95 between Springfield and Dumfries, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.


STAFFORD, Va. — A teenager was arrested after a racial slur was found painted at a church earlier this month.

Stafford authorities on Friday announced the arrest of a 16-year-old male charged in vandalizing the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church at 135 Chapel Green Road. Sheriff’s deputies found a racial slur spray painted on a back wall of the church on March 4 and then put out a call for leads in the case.
