STAFFORD, Va. – Voluntary outdoor water restrictions remain in effect for Stafford County. Because of the lack of significant rainfall, water demand is challenging the county’s capacity to treat and distribute water.
As a continued precautionary measure, officials are asking all water customers to voluntarily discontinue outdoor water usage. If it is necessary to water bushes, flowers, and other plantings, customers are asked to please use buckets of water to do so.

Clarence E. Alston, 42, of Washington, D.C., was standing outside his car that was stopped on the right shoulder of northbound I-95 at the 162 mile marker. A northbound Hyundai Santa Fe struck Alston. The Hyundai then fled the scene. The vehicle and its driver, Carol Rood-Johnson, 19, of Woodbridge, Va., were located later Saturday morning in Prince Georges County, Md.
DALE CITY, Va. — Former Virginia Governor and United State Senate candidate George F. Allen will conduct a “Virginia Veterans Round Table Discussion” at 10 AM on Saturday, August 18th. The event will be at VFW Post 1503, 14631 Minnieville Road, Dale City, VA 22193, near the intersection of Minnieville Road and Spriggs Road.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The Virginia Department of Transportation has completed replacement of the Blackburn Road bridge over Neabsco Creek in Woodbridge and will re-open the road on Wednesday, Aug. 22, weather permitting.
VDOT closed the bridge on Jan. 9 after a routine inspection revealed severe vertical cracks on the bridge abutments.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A hike for breast cancer held at Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge on Saturday netted $2,511.
The “Hike for a Cause” benefited the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and covered four miles of multi-surface terrain, through Leesylvania State Park’s historical, wooded trails bordering the Potomac River, said park spokeswoman Sarah Percival.
STAFFORD, Va. — Human skeletal remains were found off Interstate 95 in Stafford this morning.
The finding comes after police in Prince William County found human skeletal remains Wednesday night. More now from a press release:
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — The human remains found in a wooded area behind a home on Yolanda Lane will be sent to a medical examiner’s office in Manassas for examination.
With little to go on, Prince William police today described the skeletal remains as that of an adult, but it’s unclear what age or sex the body is.
MANASSAS, Va. — Kaine will tour small businesses today in Old Town Manassas as he continues his campaign for U.S. Senate.
The tour starts at 3 p.m. at Fosters Grille at 9417 West Street, and along the tour Kaine will share his ideas for economic improvement, according to a press release.
