Summer break ended for faculty at all of Stafford County’s public schools today. Many returned to the classroom to prep for the upcoming school year, and to welcome parents and students at a series of back-to-school events this week.

Mainstreet Bar and Grill will hold “zombie dance practice” Sundays Wednesdays at 5 p.m. starting Sept. 5. It’s part of a larger, global effort to “Thrill the World” where fans of the late Michael Jackson will hold impromptu dances on Oct. 27.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The plan to build two towers at the entrance of Prince William County might change.
Approved in 2005, the planned Rivergate complex on Annapolis Way in Woodbridge included two 15-story towers overlooking the Occoquan River. Inside was going to be 720 condominium homes, and the buildings were going to be a keystone in an effort to revitalize the area near the heavily used commuter routes U.S. 1 and Va. 123.
STAFFORD, Va. – After leaving his job as the city manager of Manassas, Larry Hughes is now spending his retirement in parks.
Hughes has been appointed the Interim Director of the Stafford County Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities Department.

STAFFORD, Va. — The Stafford Hospital Center will hold a seminar that will help women understand what to expect when dealing with a high-risk pregnancy.
The seminar will cover informational items like what factors can contribute to premature births, advanced maternal age, pre-eclampsia, diabetes and how multiple births can be effectively managed, according to a press release.
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The Woodbridge Campus of Northern Virginia Community College will host a 5-kilometer race, 1-mile family fun run/walk, and free Health and Wellness Expo on Oct. 7.
The day will start at 8 a.m. with a 5-kilometer race and 1-mile family fun run/walk. The race begins at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center and ends at the Woodbridge Campus. Awards will be given for the fastest in each age group, fastest female, fastest male, fastest overall and fastest team.
