NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — A total of 136 new parking spaces will be added at Smith Lake Park, which is the home to five heavily used soccer fields. With the new parking spaces, all five soccer fields will be able to be used simultaneously for the first time.
Work on the $547,000 project, which also includes a new maintenance facility that will include a “modest” equipment shop with two vehicle bays that can be used to load trucks with salt and sand for snow removal operations, should be complete next spring. Officials said working on the project during the winter months will have the least impact on park visitors.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Residents will learn more about a plan to relocate the Potomac Nationals to the economic heart of Woodbridge.
A town hall meeting with the minor league baseball team, Virginia transportation officials, and Woodbridge District Supervisor Frank Principi will be held Thursday, Sept. 27 at Freedom High School on Neabsco Mills Road from 7 to 9 p.m.

On September 2nd at 9:00PM, police responded to the 1500 block of Cherry Hill Rd in Dumfries (22026) for an assault. The victim, a 26 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were on a boat anchored near the shore when a verbal altercation escalated.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A new commuter lot on Telegraph Road in Woodbridge opened today with little fanfare and few commuters.
Prince William County transportation officials that built the new lot said they will install new signs to direct drivers to the new lot.

STAFFORD, Va. — The logo that will be used to celebrate Stafford County’s 350th anniversary has been chosen.
Developed by the county’s Blue Ribbon Committee, the logo will be used throughout 2014 to mark special events planned for the county’s birthday. It features a geographical outline of the county, incorporates the “Stafford, Virginia” logo commonly seen on marketing materials and on water towers in Stafford, and a depiction of President George Washington as a child playing with a hoop.
