STAFFORD, Va. – After leaving his job as the city manager of Manassas, Larry Hughes is now spending his retirement in parks.
Hughes has been appointed the Interim Director of the Stafford County Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities Department.

Hair Cuttery stores partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs in Prince William County and Manassas to provide free haircuts to the first 40 people under age 18 who signed up. According to their website, Hair Cuttery agreed to issue gift cards for those who signed up for the free cuts.
STAFFORD, Va. — The Stafford Hospital Center will hold a seminar that will help women understand what to expect when dealing with a high-risk pregnancy.
The seminar will cover informational items like what factors can contribute to premature births, advanced maternal age, pre-eclampsia, diabetes and how multiple births can be effectively managed, according to a press release.
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The Woodbridge Campus of Northern Virginia Community College will host a 5-kilometer race, 1-mile family fun run/walk, and free Health and Wellness Expo on Oct. 7.
The day will start at 8 a.m. with a 5-kilometer race and 1-mile family fun run/walk. The race begins at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center and ends at the Woodbridge Campus. Awards will be given for the fastest in each age group, fastest female, fastest male, fastest overall and fastest team. PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Students in Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) scored above the national composite average for the fifth straight year on the college benchmark ACT.
Students in four Prince William County High Schools exceeded the state average while overall Division scores remained the same as last year. Battlefield, Brentsville District, Forest Park, and Osbourn Park students achieved composite scores of 23.5, 24.0, 22.4 and 23.4 respectively, exceeding the state composite score of 22.4 and joining other PWCS schools in besting the national outcome of 21.1.

Aggravated Sexual Battery – On August 21st at 8:36PM, detectives from the Special Victims Bureau conducted an investigation into an assault which was reported to have occurred in the 13500 block of Princedale Dr in Dale City. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 13-year-old girl of Woodbridge, was sexually assaulted by the accused, a known family member, in 2010. Following an investigation, the accused was subsequently arrested.
