WOODBRIGDE, Va. — The latest in a series of community meet ups was held Thursday night at Uno Chicago Grill in Woodbridge.
Despite an overall weak economy and a hurricane that could impact weekend plans, travelers are expected to hit the roads for one last summer blast.
The Labor Day holiday travel weekend begins Friday and nearly 800,000 residents in the Washington area are expected to travel 50 miles or more away from home. It’s a 3.5 percent increase over the number of travelers last year with many of them planning to drive, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic.

STAFFORD COUNTY FIRE AND RESCUE
Stafford County Fire and Rescue personnel will spend the Labor Day weekend out on the streets collecting money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
LAKE RIDGE, Va. — Fire and rescue crews were called about 6 p.m. to Stevenson Court in Lake Ridge after a small fire broke out on a kitchen stove.
TRIANGLE, Va. — Two cars were hit by falling power lines this morning on Interstate 95 at Triangle. The Power lines were accidentally cutby crews working to build toll lanes on Interstate 95.
No injuries were reported.
STAFFORD, Va. — We now know more about human skeletal remains found along Interstate 95 in Stafford County. More from a sheriff’s department press release:
On Thursday, August 16, 2012 the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office reported that human skeletal remains had been found in the wooded area near the northbound 140 off ramp exit of I-95. Members of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office as well as members of the Virginia State Police were part of the initial investigation and will continue to work together as the investigation of this incident continues.
