FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan will make an appearance in Fredericksburg on Tuesday, Oct. 16. Ryan’s appearance was originally scheduled to be at Celebrate Virginia Live but has been moved to the Fredericksburg Expo Center due to rain soaking the Celebrate Virginia Live field, according to the campaign.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — A self-storage facility on Sudley Road near Manassas went up in flames last night.

Fire broke out at a Stor-All building in the 7900 block of Sudley Road near Festival at Bull Run Shopping Center at 11:16 p.m. The blaze quickly escalated to a three-alarm fire and help from Fairfax, Fauquier, and Loudoun counties was called into help douse the blaze, stated Prince William fire and rescue spokeswoman Kim Hylander.


It’s the last day in Virginia to register to vote for the November General Election.

The State Board of Elections office has placed a voter application on its website which will need to be filled out and postmarked by today in order for residents to be registered to vote. The rule does not apply for those who are already registered or who are voting using an absentee ballot.


OCCOQUAN, Va. — Officials hope the third time is the charm for an attempt to relocate a six-inch gas line near Occoquan.

The pipe at Occoquan and Old Bridge roads needs to be moved because it’s in conflict with a sanitary line that has been designed for a new neighborhood, the Potomac Crest condominiums and townhomes. Once the line is relocated, 76 new townhomes – some of which have already been purchased – can be delivered to their new owners.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Several new stores and a jumbo television screen hoisted high above a street made its debut in Woodbridge this weekend.

Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center held its grand opening welcoming eight new restaurants and shops that are joining a Wegmans grocery store that opened it’s doors inside the shopping center four years ago.


Temperatures are forecast to dip below 30 degrees in the Potomac Communities after midnight, according to the National Weather Service. That’s cold enough to kill crops and cause plants left outdoors to freeze.

It may not get cold enough to freeze overnight in Stafford County, but a frost advisory has been issued and sensitive vegetation could still be at risk, stated the weather service.


OCCOQUAN, Va. — There are burning desires to build a better regional identify for the Occoquan area and a bonfire might be the way to do just that.

As the weather gets cooler and Halloween approaches, Occoquan River Communities has invited residents to Occoquan Regional Park on the Fairfax County side of the Occoquan River for a free bonfire event where marshmallows will be roasted and ghostly tales of Occoquan’s past will be told.


A power company is rebroadcasting a winter weather warning for our area: expect lots of snow this year.

Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative warned customers this week the Farmers Almanac and AccuWeather have both predicted above-normal snowfall for the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions this winter. This prediction comes after unusually mild winter least winter season which brought the onset of an early spring.
