The REALTOR® Association of Prince William concluded the 2021 Coats for Kids Drive by collecting a record number of 62 coats. The coats will be donated to the Prince William County Preschool Program to help children in need of warmth this winter.
“Working with the Prince William County Preschool Program made it easy for REALTORS® to help make a difference in the community by spreading some much-needed warmth. Our goal was to collect 25 coats, and we surpassed it.” said REALTOR® Association of Prince William CEO, April Thomas.

Route 628 (Winding Creek Road) in Stafford County reopened to through traffic today between Route 733 (Embrey Mill Road) and Route 1947 (Walpole Street).
The road was closed in March 2021 for construction accomplished under permit by private development, as part of a proffer agreement with Stafford County.
Starting today through December 26, all U.S. Firehouse Subs restaurants – including the 30 locations right here in Washington, D.C. – are raising money to help victims of the devastating tornadoes in Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi and Illinois.

The Prince William County Human Rights Commission will celebrate Universal Human Rights Day on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, virtually at 10 a.m. The theme of the program is “Our hope for a more just, safe, and peaceful world can only be achieved when there is universal respect for the inherent dignity and equal rights of all members of the human family.”
This year’s Human Rights Day theme relates to ‘Equality’ and Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights – “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.” The principles of equality and non-discrimination are at the heart of human rights. This includes addressing and finding solutions for deep-rooted forms of discrimination that have affected the most vulnerable people in societies, including women and girls, indigenous peoples, people of African descent, LGBTI people, migrants, and people with disabilities, among others.
A new partnership between the University of Virginia and Germanna Community College will make it easier for students to earn both an associate’s and bachelor’s degree completely online.
The agreement means that qualified students who complete Germanna’s College Everywhere program will have early admission to UVA’s Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies or Bachelor of Healthcare Management programs, both of which are online and designed for working adults and part-time students.
Thanks to the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation’s continued partnership with the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education (VFCCE), the NOVA Foundation received a grant to expand hunger relief initiatives and promote food security among students on all six of Northern Virginia Community College’s (NOVA) campuses.
NOVA works diligently to provide for the needs of students and their families through food pantries located on each campus and referrals to community services to help reduce food insecurity and foster academic success and retention. This grant, which is being administered by the NOVA Foundation, makes it possible to provide 800 meals. Each student will receive funds deposited onto their NOVA Card for use at the NOVA Nighthawk cafes and bookstores, a nutrition fact sheet and contact information for other college programs and resources.
