Thousands of families and business leaders across the Washington D.C. Metro Area will join together in the March of Dimes annual March for Babies – the nation’s oldest walk fundraiser honoring babies born healthy and those that need help to survive and thrive. 

Six March for Babies events are planned in the Greater Washington Area from April 25 – May 3, 2015, in Fairfax County, Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, Prince William County, Southern Maryland and Washington, D.C. To register for an event in your community visit marchforbabies.org.


Woodbridge Sr. High School’s Center for Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) invites you to “Be Our Guest!”  Come see the Academy Award winning film come to life on our stage. Performances are April 16th – 19th with Evening and Matinee performances available. 

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. 


Sinclair Elementary School in Manassas, Virginia is excited to announce our Multicultural Festival on Friday, April 10, 2015, from 6pm to 8pm. 

The Multicultural Festival will give Sinclair students and families the opportunity to share and showcase food, dress, artifacts and information about their own cultures. Additionally students, families, and the community at large will have the opportunity to learn and appreciate that people from different cultures have different values, languages, preferences, and behaviors associated with their cultures. Students will learn to accept these differences and appreciate them. This acquired knowledge with help students break down cultural stereotypes in our school and our society as a whole.


Stafford County Crime Solvers announces a Stafford Shred It Program- Drive Thru Style, an opportunity for the citizens of Stafford County to shred unwanted documents, receipts or other official papers. For only $5.00 a box citizens can come to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Parking Lot (1225 Courthouse Road, Stafford) and have their unwanted papers shredded on Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 8:00AM – 12:00PM.

The limit for shredding is 100lbs. per vehicle with the proceeds of the day going to Stafford Crime Solvers! If anyone has any questions feel free to contact Sgt. Darrell English at 540-658-4428. This event will be held rain or shine.


The MCPS Education Foundation is pleased to announce that it has awarded more than $74,000 to programs in Manassas City Public Schools (MCPS) this year. The Foundation’s Grants program encourages educators to identify and develop solutions to educational challenges.

Lisa Harlow, STEM Instructional Coach earned funding for a new program “Take a Closer Look”, which will provide each classroom at Haydon Elementary with a hand held microscope/camera and an iPad to view the images. “This will allow students to more closely examine the scientific world around them. From simple observations in Kindergarten to the study of plant reproduction in grade four, access to these microscopes and the ability to view and record the images will enhance our students understanding of the standards they are expected to master.”


Residents in the immediate vicinity of Marine Corps Base Quantico may experience an increase in noise as an affect from ground/aircraft training or range clearance operations during the week of Apr. 4-10.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that April is National Distracted Driving Month. This year’s theme, provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association is “U Drive. U Text. U Pay”.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office will be actively patrolling, looking for motorists who are texting and driving. Texting While Driving is now a primary offense in Virginia with drivers facing a fine of $125.00 and court costs for the 1st offense and a fine of $250.00 and court costs for the second offense. Studies show that drivers are 23 times more likely to be in an accident if they are texting and driving and more than 3000 teens die each year in crashes caused by texting while driving.


Arts Alive! 2015, a co-production of the Prince William County Arts Council and the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas, is a free, family-fun arts festival on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hylton Center.

This highly-anticipated annual community event celebrates the diversity and talent of visual and performing artists and ensembles from Prince William County and the City of Manassas, and also offers hands-on arts-related activities for children and adults, as well as food and craft vendors with items for sale. Admission and parking to the event are FREE. Arts Alive! 2015 Sponsors are United Bank and NOVEC.
