DALE CITY, Va. — Premier Martial Arts and Fitness is excited to introduce itself to Prince William County with its Grand Opening event, Saturday, November 9, 2013. PMAF offers martial arts instruction to children ages three through adult. Unlike other martial arts schools in this area, PMAF offers instruction in the true martial art of the Samurai; Ninjutsu and Jujutsu, with a focus on teaching self-confidence and a common sense approach to self-defense.


MANASSAS, Va. – Effective immediately the House of Mercy is providing free food to federal employees and contract workers affected by the government shutdown that took effect Oct. 1.

The nonprofit humanitarian organization’s offer also extends to all employees affected by recent sequestration, said House of Mercy Assistant Director Ann Cimini. The only proof required to receive free food is an employee identification, she said.


The Department of Public Works Neighborhood Services Division will host the 2013 Homeowner and Condominium Association Leadership Seminar on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, from 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. in the Development Services Building, Room 202, 5 County Complex Court in Woodbridge.

Renowned industry experts attorney Jeremy Moss from Mercer Triginani, General Manager Deborah Carter from Westridge Swim and Racquet Club, Inc. and attorneys Sheyna Nicole Burt and Heather Gillespie will lead sessions on “Understanding Board Basics”, “Proactive Approaches to Covenant Enforcement & Collections”, “Navigating Maintenance Responsibilities.” Speakers will also provide the latest legislative update from Virginia’s Common Interest Community Ombudsman.


Leadership Prince William is “walking the walk” of leadership in our community.

Earlier this week, the Class of 2013 hosted a Labor Day Spectacular for residents, staff and volunteers at the SERVE emergency shelter in Manassas. The event included a free picnic lunch, carnival and video games, face painting, bingo, music, prizes and more.


Project Mend a House, a non-profit organization serving seniors, veterans, the disabled and low income residents for Prince William County, the City of Manassas, and Manassas Park, has a special request for participants for an upcoming fall risk screening for seniors ages 60 and over. The screenings are free.

Our next screening will be held on Tuesday, October 15, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Manassas Park Community Center, located at 99 Adam Street, Manassas Park. The Project Mend-A-House’s Taste of the Town- Prince William County Style event showcases culinary specialties from some of Prince William County’s best restaurants. The Project Mend-A-House’s annual Taste of the Town dinner will be on Wednesday October 16, 2013 at the VFW Post 1503, located at 14631 Minneville Road in Woodbridge.

For just a mere $25 donation per person, you will be able to sample delicious foods from more than twenty five of our local favorite restaurants. This local favorite fundraiser offers great food, entertainment and company. 


The SERVE campus of Northern Virginia Family Services is in need of volunteers on Monday, Sept. 30 and Tuesday, Oct 1  from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. to help warehouse staff take a complete inventory of food and supplies in our 8,000-square-foot warehouse.

SERVE is located at 10056 Dean Drive, Manassas 20110. Up to 25 volunteers are needed each shift. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, be prepared to do considerable lifting. This is a great one-time opportunity! For more information, please contact Jan Hawkins at [email protected].

Come out and volunteer for an obstacle race that has been described as everything from “the ultimate family adventure,” to “the #1 obstacle race in the nation.” Run Ruckus , the nations premiere family obstacle course and over 3,000 participants will be at the Prince William County Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 28 for Run Ruckus DC.

The Woodbridge Music Club opens its 2013-14 musical season with the annual members’ concert at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 21. The performance begins at 7 p.m. and features sopranos Leslie Bennett and Debora Madsen with David Crookston, harpist, percussionist David Salisbury, violinist Michael Munayer and pianists Donna Baldwin, Patricia Parker, Grace Reid and June Shuffett.

The group will also honor Deborah Chappell, a long time member who recently passed away, with pianist Lana Bailey playing in tribute to her.
