STAFFORD — David Decatur is seeking a second term as Stafford County Sheriff.

With the Republican nomination, the 33-year veteran of the Stafford sheriff’s office is hanging his hat on his experience, community involvement, and work to improve pay and recruit new deputies to the force.


The race to replace Prince William County’s outgoing Commonwealth’s Attorney Paul Ebert is beginning to take shape with both candidates — Republican Mike May and Democrat Amy Ashworth – saying they support some criminal justice reforms but disagree about how they should be implemented.


MANASSAS — Lee Carter beat his Democratic opponent in Tuesday’s Primary Election, Manassas City Councilman Mark Wolfe.

In a low-turnout competition, Carter beat Wolfe by 260 votes. Carter is Virginia’s first elected member of the Democratic Socialists of America, an organization Carter describes as a political action group.
