Exclusive: Newly-elected Prince William GOP chairman on making county competitive again, being a black conservative leader

Tim Parrish is the newly elected leader of the Prince William County Republican Committee. He was elected during an “unassembled” convention on Saturday, June 27, where committee members drove their ballots to multiple polling places to include the Prince William County Government Center on Prince William Parkway, and the Dr. A.J. Ferlazzo Building in Woodbridge.

Parrish, an honorably discharged U.S. Marine, beat fellow candidates Carol Czarkowski and William Johnston for the job. He will replace William “Bill” Card.

Daniel M. Gade will be the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate to face incumbent Mark Warner (D) in the November 3 General Election.

Gade handily beat his Republican Primary Election opponents Allisa A. Baldwin, and Thomas Speciale II with 67% of the vote. Locally Gade won Prince William and Stafford counties with 58% and 64% of the vote, respectively.

The June Primary Election is Tuesday, absentee votes have been ‘through the roof’

Tuesday is Primary Day across Virginia, where voters will head to the polls to choose candidates for Senate and House of Representatives.

Polls open at 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, and close at 7 p.m.

The Republican Party of Virginia (RPV) has called for the immediate resignation of Delegate Lee Carter (D-Manassas, Bristow) for ‘abusing his power as an elected official in Virginia to bully and intimidate law enforcement officers and threaten to cut police budgets.’

This comes in the wake of a video posted on Facebook by Isaiah Knight, the Director-Elect of the Peaks of Otter Soil and Water Conservation District and Chairman of Virginia Families PAC, that appears to depict Delegate Carter saying ‘I’m a member of the general assembly. I write the state police’s budget. They’re gonna f***ing regret it.’

Haymarket Election: Luersen elected mayor, unseats Leake

Haymarket is welcoming five non-incumbent candidates to their town council after the Tuesday, May 19, election, including Kenneth Luersen who will be mayor.

Luersen beat out incumbent David Leake by 13 points. Leake has served as mayor since 2012.

Occoquan Election: Earnie Porta gets a sixth term

Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta ran unopposed and will keep his seat.

This will be Porta’s sixth term as Occoquan’s mayor. He served in this position from 2006 to 2014. He ran again in 2018 and won.

Danica Roem appointed to the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority

Today it was announced via a press release that Delegate Danica Roem (D-13th) has been appointed to the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA). The NVTA provides funding for road, mass transit, and multi-modal transportation projects in Northern Virginia.

The appointment was made official by Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn.

Electronic campaign sign sparks debate in Haymarket

A message board that reads “Vote #TeamHaymarket” has stirring up debate about what type of campaign signs are allowed in the town.

Haymarket resident Rebecca Smith originally posted a photo of the message board to Facebook, alleging the sign’s presence at the corner of Washington and Jefferson streets is a violation of Haymarket Town Ordinance 58-15.5(h) which prohibits electronic message boards.
