Insidenova: “Prince William County will be the center of one of the most-watched primary races in this year’s General Assembly elections, as two incumbents seek the Democratic nomination in the 29th State Senate District.”

“Voting began May 5 in the race between Sen. Jeremy McPike, who currently holds the seat, and Del. Elizabeth Guzman, D-31st. Redistricting maps approved in late 2021 moved Guzman into a House district with Del. Luke Torian, so she decided to run for Senate instead.”

Biden’s order would cancel up to $10,000 for qualifying borrowers and up to $20,000 for Pell Grant recipients. Biden ordered the debt cancellation via the Department of Education last year, but it is now under review by the U.S. Supreme Court after a legal challenge.

“The Congressional Joint Resolution of Disapproval passed Thursday and received Democratic support from Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Jon Tester of Montana, as well as Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, who now identifies as Independent. Two other Democrats, Sens. Mark Warner of Virginia and Michael Bennet of Colorado, did not vote.”

“Virginia Democrats quickly accused the governor of grandstanding in a “desperate search for national relevance” – using Virginians’ tax dollars for a “political stunt.” While Virginia Republicans praised the governor’s move in the “strongest possible terms”— instead criticizing President Biden’s administration.”

“Virginia Republicans applauded Youngkin’s decision to deploy national guardsmen to the southern border in response to the federal government’s “lack of action.” Del. Todd Gilbert, the House of Delegates speaker, underscored the fentanyl crisis in support of the deployment.”

Insidenova: “Two Republicans in the 29th Senate District are looking to flip a blue seat come November, but first, they’ll face off in a June 20 primary.”

“Woodbridge resident Nikki Baldwin, a native of Florida who says she spent time in foster care before enlisting in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman, is running in her first race for public office. She’s running on a platform of parental input on educational issues and against race-based school admissions.”

I served as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps for 22 years, retiring in 1997 as a Lieutenant Colonel and making Prince William County my home. I am offended by the blatant appeal of Kenneth Knarr through photos of himself in uniform in campaign advertisements.

If that wasn’t bad enough, he’s using these tactics on many of his materials without the required disclaimer by the Department of Defense. This is both disgraceful and immoral campaigning.

The Center Square: “Sen. Tim Kaine is pressuring the U.S. Postal Service to address mail delivery issues plaguing some regions of Virginia. Kaine is pressing for answers regarding “persistent issues” with mail delivery across the commonwealth and how the postal service plans to fix them.”

“I am concerned that Virginia communities as far-flung as Smyth County in southwest Virginia, the Richmond area (nearly 300 miles away from Chilhowie by highway), and Arlington, across the river from Washington, D.C., are all experiencing missing bills, medications, tax documents, and days/weeks without mail,” said Kaine.”

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares visited Prince William County on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

Miaryes: “I had the pleasure to speak at Ian Lovejoy’s campaign kickoff in Manassas last night! As a Councilman, entrepreneur, and small business owner, @IanTLovejoy has served his region for over a decade and knows what Virginians want.”

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares was in Manassas today, Thursday, May 25, 2023, to discuss a new plan to give child ID kids to middle school students.
