Fairfax Police Hunt Animal Attacker

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — In the wake of a stabbing of three horses on April 26, more barnyard animals have been injured by an unknown assailant at the Kidwell Barn at Frying Pan Park in the Herndon area. Two goats, a calf and a chicken were cut by an unknown object during the nighttime hours between 5 p.m. Saturday, May 26 and 7 a.m. Sunday, May 27.

Farm staff discovered the injuries around 8 a.m. when they went to feed the animals. The calf and one of the goats are both under a year old and bottle-fed. They have no fear of humans and would approach anyone who came near thinking they might be fed.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – On behalf of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and its Commandant of Cadets, U.S. Air Force Major General Randal D. Fullhart, Delegate Richard L. Anderson recently presented an “Emerging Leader Scholarship” (ELS) to Gar-Field High School graduating senior Kacey M. Adams. The setting was at the annual Gar-Field High School Senior Awards Night in front of several hundred of her friends, family, and classmates.

Del. Anderson was a member of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets during his time at Virginia Tech and graduated in 1979. He entered the U.S. Air Force that same year and retired in 2009 as a full colonel after 30 years in uniform.

Homers Power Lynchburg to 7-2 Win Over Potomac

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg Hillcats used three home runs off of Potomac starter Matt Swynenberg to beat the Nationals 7-2 at City Stadium on Saturday night. With the win, Lynchburg increased their Northern Division lead over Potomac to 6.5 games.

P-Nats starter RHP Matt Swynenberg came into tonight’s contest giving up just one home run in 2012 over 45 innings. In the second with a runner at first, Edward Salcedo smacked a 1-1 pitch over the left field fence and the Hillcats took a 2-0 lead.

Woman Tries to Abduct Child on Bus

DUMFRIES, Va. — A Triangle woman is accused of trying to steal a baby from a bus and then punching a police officer in the face.

On Friday, a 16-year-old Dumfries girl called 911 after a woman tried to grab a child on an OmniLink bus. The caller said the suspect asked if she could hold her six-month-old son, according to police documents.

Nationals Out-Slug Hillcats 11-8

LYNCHBURG, Va – The Potomac Nationals held onto a 11-8 win over the Lynchburg Hillcats Friday night at City Stadium. Potomac used a five-run first to get their first win on the road over their last seven tries.

The Nationals scored five runs in the first inning to get off to a quick start against Lynchburg starter RHP Cody Martin. The key play was a missed catch of a throw by first basemen Chris Garcia with two out which opened the flood gates to three unearned runs. The big hits: an RBI double by David Freitas and a two-out two-run double by Kevin Keyes. Potomac’s five runs in the first were equal to the total runs scored by the P-Nats in the last two series on the road (at Carolina and Wilmington) over six games.

DUMFIRES, Va. — It’s an annual rallying point for one of the year’s most moving tributes.

The Rolling Thunder Rally, an annual Memorial Day event that attracts hundreds of bikers and military veterans to the Pentagon by way of their motorcycles, will once again come to Dumfries. Cyclists will gather starting tomorrow at East Coast Harley Davidson on Main Street in the small town. The event always attracts a crowd.

(22193). The investigation revealed that the victim, a 10 year old girl of Woodbridge, was sexually assaulted by the accused, a known family member, the night prior. Following an investigation, the accused was subsequently arrested.

Fire Burns Vacant Building in Triangle

TRIANGLE, Va. — A fire in a vacant building this morning had the attention of firefighters in Triangle.

Crews were called to 4008 Graham Park Road, near St. Francis of Assisi Church, after a building became fully involved in fire, according to initial reports.

I-95 South Reopened in Stafford
