WOODBRIDGE, Va. – Congressman Gerry Connolly will host his annual Senior Issues Forum on Thursday at Westminster at Lake Ridge in Prince William County. Citizens interested in learning more about legislative matters and other issues concerning seniors and retirees are invited to attend.

Representatives from the AARP, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Social Security Administration, and the Federal Trade Commission will join Connolly on a panel at the forum. Congressman Connolly’s issues forum will run from 3 pm to 5 pm on Thursday, September 5, in Westminster’s Potomac Room at 12191 Clipper Drive in Woodbridge.


The Department of Defense is trading Prince William for Fairfax County, and will move 300 jobs from the Manassas area to Chantilly.

DUMFRIES, Va. — If you had a card that would allow you discount at local businesses, would you use it?

That’s what Dumfries officials want to know, and they’ve asked the town’s business association to solicit feedback from business owners to see if they would like to be listed on such a card that could be used at merchants in the small town.


DALE CITY, Va. –– Virginia State Police were called to the scene of a fuel spill on Interstate 95.

A tractor trailer headed north on I-95 at mile post 155 in Dale City ran off of the highway while attempting to avoid colliding with another car while switching lanes. At 2:10 p.m., the truck hit a Jersey wall and ruptured its right fuel tank, which sent diesel spilling across two of the three northbound travel lanes, said police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.


DUMFRIES, Va. — A firefighter who spent years in the Dumfries-Triangle Fire Department passed away after a battle with cancer.

Captain Stanley “Pepper” Johnson died Monday, Aug. 26 and will be buried on Wednesday at Quantico National Cemetery.

Mom on the Run

I’m in the grocery store, wheeling my cart slowly, slowly down the aisles. Up and down, up and down. If I don’t go through the store in the same order, not skipping any aisles, I forget things. I may not remember I need mayonnaise until I’m in the actual condiments aisle, confronted with it. So up and down I go for the whole length of the store, every time.
