PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Two new large building projects are going in along Route 28 in Prince William County testing the limits of an outdated road and an already taxed county infrastructure. Orchard Bridge will be a 15 building grouping of garden style apartments the anticipated completion date will be May of 2014.

The Towns at Falls Grove will be a mix of single family homes and town home style condos across from Yorkshire Drive on Va. 28 in Prince William County. Potential residents can expect to pay upwards of $289,000 to purchase a unit in the complex.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Two violent crimes in Woodbridge sparked reaction from Prince William County’s top leader Corey Stewart on Tuesday, who says the rate of violent crime in the county is going up.

A large fight broke out in the food court at Potomac Mills mall on Feb. 15 and two teenagers were charged. While the fight broke out when the mall was full of people, false information claiming that a shooting also happened during the fight went viral. No shots were ever fired.

MANASSAS, Va. — The chronically sick, under insured, or uninsured in need of medical attention now have a new option in Manassas.

The Evergreen Health Clinic opened its doors on Monday offering an all-inclusive approach to treating the sick and tracking their progress keep them on the road to getting well.

Monday’s Manassas City Council meeting was as dramatic as everyone expected given two items on the agenda that would tighten zoning regulations surrounding abortion clinics as well as other medical facilities. The first zoning change would separate medical facilities into a different zoning category and the second would require certain clinics that perform outpatient surgeries like cosmetic surgery and abortion to get a “Special Use Permit” from the city before building could commence. Both agenda items were defeated 4-2.

Defenders of the proposed zoning changes called for “transparency” in the process of new medical facilities opening in Manassas, while opponents said that the amendments unfairly targeted women’s health clinics.

QUANTICO, Va. — Col. David Maxwell, the commanding officer at Quantico Marine Corps Base, will lay a special wreath commemorating the 262nd birthday of President James Madison.

Maxwell will attend the celebration honoring the 4th U.S. president at Madison’s Virginia home, Montpelier.

DUMFRIES, Va. — Some residents of Dumfries say they didn’t have enough warning that their car would be towed during a recent snow storm.

Some cars parked along Old Triangle Road in the town’s Williamstown and South Cove neighborhoods and were towed during last Monday’s storm that brought measureable snow to the region. Old Triangle Road is a designated snow emergency route, and a town ordinance allows police to have cars parked along the route towed away when a snow emergency is declared.

A found lottery ticket netted $250,000 for a Manassas man.

According to the Virginia Lottery, Scott Murillo bought the Mega Millions ticket at an Exxon gas station in October and forgot about it. Late last month, Murillo was cleaning out some old papers when he found the ticket and then decided to check the numbers.

I am a supporter of  Prince William County Supervisor Pete Candland. I don’t live in his district  of Gainesville and I don’t care whether he is a Republican or a Democrat. I like him because he has youth and energy, is willing to try new ideas and has the courage of his convictions.

Candland is obviously trying to do the best possible job for his constituents and I am sure for all of Prince William County. So, when I received an email from Candland this week, I was impressed with all the information he provided, but it left me with some questions we need to think about.
