WOODBRIDGE, Va. Improvements to Fairfax County Parkway and Interstate 395 south scored highly on regional wish list of needed traffic improvements.

A total of 32 transportation projects went through a pre-qualification funding screening, and the results have been accepted by Northern Virginia Transportation Authority – the government agency that will dole out some $200 million for highway improvements in Northern Virginia. The funds will come from the landmark transportation improvement bill signed into law in 2013 by then Gov. Robert F. McDonnell.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The Prince William Area Free Clinic received financial help from a good neighbor.

The Lake Ridge Ambulatory Surgery Center gave the clinic $317,000 to be used for operating expenses. The clinic in Woodbridge doesn’t charge for services and provides acute treatment to patients with chronic ailments.

Knight, a consultant who was hired to figure out how to make Falmouth bustling again eventually did find the tiny village, and then she devised the Falmouth Master Interpretive Plan that details how to bring more people to the area with the hopes of boosting tourism and commerce.

The first six of 30 new overhead toll gantries have been installed along the project corridor from Edsall Road to North Stafford. The gantries will allow drivers on the Express Lanes to pass under them and will read EZ-Pass transponders used to pay tolls, which will be required in each vehicle to use the lanes.

A recent discussion on Our Schools Facebook page revolved around salaried elected officials. We noted the differences between the Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) and the School Board Representatives (SB Reps)

The BOCS, meets year round and are paid as full-time employees with benefits. They have offices, staff and expense accounts. Prince William County Schools receive 57.23% of the general revenue funds paid to the county by the taxpayers, yet, PWC SB Reps are considered part time employees.

Corey Stewart turned to the press this week to get residents riled up about the need for more police on the streets.

The At-large Chairman of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors’ rare press conference on Tuesday drew not only me to the table, but reporters from other online news websites and newspapers that cover the county, as well as a TV reporter from Washington, D.C.
