From Prince William fire and rescue:
On Tuesday, August 23rd at 3:17 p.m., a Prince William County Fire Marshal was investigating a citizen’s complaint reporting a suspicious device [at a home in the 1500 block of Arum Place in Woodbridge]. Upon discovering the device, additional fire and rescue resources were requested. The County Police also provided on-scene assistance.

Residential Burglary – On August 22 at 10:52AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 5200 block of Meckon Ct in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an alarm activation. As officers were enroute, a witness reported to police that an unknown man was attempting to break into the residence through a rear door with a shovel.

Lane closures for milling and paving will occur nightly on part of Shoppers Best Way from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, August 23 through Thursday, August 25, and on portions of Featherstone Road and Blackburn Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, August 28 through Thursday, September 1, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The Town of Quantico, in cooperation with the American Canoe Association (ACA), USA Canoe/Kayak (USACK), and Adaptive Expeditions are looking for eligible disabled Veterans to participate in an upcoming Paracanoe athlete development project being held on Saturday August 27th and Sunday August 28th. For voters in Manassas City, what’s old is new again.
The city will use optical scanner voting machines starting with the November 2017 Election. The machines will use paper ballots, then will insert them into the ballot machine to be counted.
