Before we get into the details, let’s talk about why Summer reading is so important to school-age students. Maybe you’ve heard of the “Summer slide”? It’s the learning loss that happens during the summer when kids and teens don’t read or participate in educational activities. But don’t worry, because public library Summer reading programs help combat Summer slide. Research shows that children who are engaged in Summer reading programs perform better academically when they return to school in the Fall. lThe Prince William County Board of Supervisors voted 7-0 to reaffirm its support of the overhead and underground hybrid route plan for a new power line in Haymarket.
The I-66 Hybrid Alternative route would build the 234,000 volts, 10-mile power line overhead, connecting with an existing line near the intersection of Route 234 and Interstate 66. The line would then run underground near homes along I-66 until it makes its connection to a power substation near a Walmart in Haymarket.

A black bear was struck and killed by a car traveling on Route 610 Garrisonville Road in North Stafford on Thursday night.
The bear was walking in the area of Joshua Road when it was struck by a car, killing it instantly, according to a Stafford County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
The Prince William Chamber of Commerce weighed into the effort to negotiate the construction of a new baseball stadium for the Potomac Nationals near Potomac Mills mall.
The letter was sent by the Chamber to elected leaders on the Board of Supervisors.
