STAFFORD — At first, Stafford officials thought they couldn’t build a new $71 million courthouse on the same side of the street as the existing facility.

Officials knew they didn’t have enough room to build adequate parking spaces for the building and then began to look at 32 acres of county-owned property across Courthouse Road as a potential site for the new building.


MANASSAS — When people are seeking a service animal and vision impairment is the issue, Guiding Eyes for the Blind has been there since 1954, offering services free of charge.

The organization that has graduated over 7,000 guide dog teams is located in Yorktown Heights, New York. And while that might not seem local to the Prince William area, locals have gotten involved in raising exceptional dogs.


WOODBRIDGE — Prince William County leaders may be ready to part with nearly $1 million to dredge Neabsco Creek.

The U.S. Coast Guard ordered the leisure waterway in Woodbridge closed earlier this month when it found the waters were too shallow for boats to safely enter and exit the creek’s channel.

STAFFORD — A lawsuit filed in Stafford County court aims to have a controversial land-use decision that limited “cluster” subdivisions tossed out.

The suit claims a March 20 decision by the Stafford County Board of Supervisors to limit the development of cluster subdivisions — where homes are built on smaller lots, closer together to preserve open space, in an effort to save developers money and drive up profits — devalued their land.
